Netflix has disclosed that it used generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the production of approximately 300 programs this year, as part of its second-quarter earnings report. The streaming giant's co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, emphasized that AI is being
used to speed up production, reduce costs, and create complex shots that would otherwise be unaffordable or time-consuming. Shows like 'Glory' and 'The American Experiment' are among those that have incorporated AI tools. Sarandos clarified that AI serves as a creative aid rather than a replacement for human artists, providing creators with enhanced tools to realize their visions. Netflix's acquisition of InterPositive, a company founded by Ben Affleck, aims to further equip filmmakers with AI tools throughout the production process.
