What's Happening?
Shark Beauty has partnered with actor and comedian Kevin Hart to co-design a limited-edition CryoGlow LED Mask. Hart, who serves as a Global Brand Ambassador for Shark Beauty's parent company SharkNinja, collaborated with the team to create a new gunmetal
and red colorway for the Pure Beauty Award-winning LED treatment device. This design is intended to reflect Hart's interests, hobbies, and lifestyle, drawing inspiration from high-performance cars and fitness culture to offer a bold and unexpected take on at-home skincare. Laura Dyer, Senior VP, Global Entertainment & Culture Strategy at SharkNinja, stated that the collaboration aims to make men's self-care approachable and easy to integrate into existing routines. Hart emphasized the convenience of CryoGlow for his busy schedule and expressed appreciation for the mask's edgy design. Hart is also slated to participate in Shark Beauty's upcoming 'Glow Like A Bro' campaign. This partnership follows a previous co-design with actress Claudia Sulewski for a Celestial Skies Collection.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration is significant as it marks a strategic move by Shark Beauty to expand its market reach, particularly targeting male consumers in the self-care and beauty space. Leveraging Kevin Hart's widespread appeal and relatable persona can help destigmatize men's use of advanced skincare devices, making such products more mainstream. The design inspiration from high-performance cars and fitness culture is a deliberate attempt to resonate with a male demographic, framing skincare as an extension of a modern, active lifestyle. This partnership also highlights a growing trend in the beauty industry where brands are increasingly engaging with comedic figures and diverse celebrities to make beauty gifting and self-care more accessible, personal, and fun. For Shark Beauty, it reinforces its commitment to innovation and broadens its brand image beyond traditional beauty technology.
What's Next?
Following the launch of the limited-edition CryoGlow LED Mask, Shark Beauty will likely roll out its 'Glow Like A Bro' campaign featuring Kevin Hart, aiming to further engage male consumers and promote the concept of men's self-care. The success of this collaboration could lead to more partnerships with male celebrities or influencers in the beauty tech sector. Shark Beauty may also expand its product offerings to include other devices or skincare lines specifically tailored for men. Competitors in the beauty device market will observe the effectiveness of this targeted marketing strategy, potentially influencing their own celebrity endorsement choices and product development for diverse demographics. The brand will monitor sales and consumer feedback to gauge the impact of this partnership on market share and brand perception.
Beyond the Headlines
The partnership between Shark Beauty and Kevin Hart reflects a broader cultural shift in perceptions of masculinity and self-care. Historically, advanced skincare and beauty devices have been predominantly marketed towards women. However, this collaboration challenges those traditional gender norms, positioning self-care as a universal practice that is both acceptable and desirable for men. By associating the CryoGlow LED Mask with elements of high-performance and fitness, the brand is reframing beauty tech within a context that resonates with male interests. This move contributes to the ongoing breakdown of gendered marketing in the beauty industry, fostering a more inclusive approach to personal care. It also underscores the increasing influence of celebrity culture in shaping consumer behavior and driving market trends, particularly when celebrities actively participate in product design and brand messaging.
