Pirelli, in collaboration with Pyrum, Synthos, and BASF, has announced plans to advance tire circular economy initiatives across Europe. The primary objective of this project is to increase the utilization of recycled materials derived from end-of-life
and scrap tires in the production of new tires. This initiative aims to establish an industrial ecosystem that facilitates the return of certified secondary raw materials back into the tire manufacturing process. The process involves collecting end-of-life tires from various sources in Germany, including Driver retail outlets, motorsport activities, and scrap tires from Pirelli’s Breuberg plant. These collected materials are then processed through an industrial chain to convert them into secondary raw materials, such as synthetic rubber. The materials are certified under the ISCC PLUS scheme, ensuring traceability throughout the value chain and enabling Pirelli to reintroduce these circular materials into the production of new tires.
