Springfield Armory has expanded its Kuna large-format pistol lineup with the introduction of new tri-lug and .40 S&W models. The tri-lug version incorporates a feature inspired by the Heckler & Koch MP5, allowing for quick attachment and removal of suppressors
or other muzzle devices. This model features three integrally machined lugs on its 6.6-inch cold hammer-forged barrel and is available in 9mm Luger. It can be purchased in a standard configuration with 10-round magazines or with a factory-installed Strike Industries FSA folding stabilizing arm brace. Additionally, Springfield Armory has released a Kuna chambered in .40 S&W, a cartridge for which the original Kuna platform was designed for a Brazilian federal police contract. The .40 S&W model includes a threaded muzzle (9/16x24 TPI) with Springfield’s multi-port muzzle brake and feeds from proprietary 30-round magazines. Both new models maintain the roller-delayed blowback action characteristic of the Kuna series.
