What's Happening?
Atlanta News First (ANF) has announced a new broadcast partnership with the Atlanta Hawks, making it the official broadcast partner for the team's 2026-27 NBA season. This agreement will allow ANF to broadcast all non-nationally televised Hawks games
for free over the air, providing extensive coverage to fans across north Georgia. The games will also be available on major pay-TV systems such as Xfinity, Spectrum, DirecTV, and DISH Network, as well as streaming platforms like YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream, and Fubo. This partnership marks a return to local, free broadcasts for the Hawks, reminiscent of their earlier broadcast history. The collaboration will also include three preseason games and select national games, with the full broadcast schedule to be announced later.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it enhances accessibility for Atlanta Hawks fans, allowing them to watch games without the need for a cable subscription. By broadcasting games for free, ANF is expanding its reach and providing a valuable service to the local community. This move reflects a broader trend in sports broadcasting where teams and networks are seeking to make content more accessible to fans. The partnership also strengthens ANF's position in the Atlanta market, aligning with its commitment to deliver Atlanta-centric programming. For the Hawks, this agreement ensures that their fan base remains engaged and connected, potentially increasing viewership and fan loyalty.
What's Next?
The full broadcast schedule for the 2026-27 season, including specific game times and details, will be announced at a later date. As the season approaches, both ANF and the Atlanta Hawks are likely to engage in promotional activities to raise awareness about the new broadcast arrangement. Fans can expect more detailed announcements regarding the preseason and national games that will be included in the broadcast package. Additionally, the partnership may lead to further collaborations between ANF and the Hawks, potentially involving community events or fan engagement initiatives.
