What's Happening?
Sixteen students from various high schools in Central Louisiana and East Texas have signed job offers with RoyOMartin through its WoodWorks and Girls Can Too! workforce development programs. These programs are designed to prepare students for careers
in manufacturing by providing specialized training and mentorship. Participants receive a paid scholarship to attend Central Louisiana Technical Community College for six weeks, where they enhance their manufacturing knowledge and workplace safety skills. Upon completion, they are guaranteed interviews and begin their careers at RoyOMartin's manufacturing facilities.
Why It's Important?
The initiative by RoyOMartin is significant as it addresses the skills gap in the manufacturing industry by equipping young people with the necessary skills and experience. By investing in workforce development, the company not only secures a skilled labor force for its operations but also contributes to the economic development of the region. Programs like WoodWorks and Girls Can Too! are crucial in providing career opportunities to young people, particularly in areas where job prospects may be limited. This approach also encourages diversity in the workforce by promoting female participation in manufacturing through the Girls Can Too! program.
