What's Happening?
Bluepeak is enhancing its fiber network capabilities by partnering with Harmonic to utilize its cOS virtualized core, Pearl R-OLTs, and SeaStar optical node. This collaboration aims to expand Bluepeak's PON services and extend fiber-grade broadband connectivity
to lower-density multi-dwelling units (MDUs). By leveraging Harmonic's cloud-native broadband platform, Bluepeak can strategically grow its fiber footprint while maximizing existing infrastructure. The SeaStar optical node allows for cost-effective extension of fiber services, facilitating new revenue streams and subscriber growth. Bluepeak's network expansion covers several states, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between Bluepeak and Harmonic is significant for expanding high-speed internet access in underserved areas. By improving fiber connectivity, Bluepeak can offer faster and more reliable internet services, which are essential for economic development and digital inclusion. The ability to extend fiber-grade services to MDUs without extensive infrastructure changes reduces deployment costs and accelerates service availability. This expansion supports the growing demand for broadband connectivity, which is crucial for remote work, education, and access to digital services. The collaboration also highlights the role of innovative technology solutions in overcoming traditional barriers to broadband deployment.
