Germany's VDMA engineering association has urged European nations to prioritize humanoid robotics on their political agendas. The VDMA emphasized the need for Germany and Europe to establish robust domestic supply chains for critical components in this
sector. This call comes as Chinese manufacturers, particularly Unitree, are experiencing significant growth and market dominance in humanoid robot shipments. Global shipments of humanoid robots nearly quadrupled in the first half of this year, reaching 19,100 units, with Chinese companies leading the market. The VDMA highlights that a global competition for leadership in humanoid robotics has commenced, underscoring the urgency for Europe to act. Hartmut Rauen, Deputy Executive Director of the VDMA, stated that a comprehensive value chain with domestic production of essential components is crucial for Germany and Europe.
