What's Happening?
The Sam Houston women's golf team is set to participate in the second annual OU Intercollegiate tournament, hosted by Oklahoma. The event will take place at Wichita Country Club, a par-71 course measuring 6,127 yards. The tournament begins on Monday with
36 holes, featuring a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start, and concludes on Tuesday with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m. CT. This marks the first time the tournament will be held at Wichita Country Club, following its debut in 2025 at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Sam Houston will be part of an 11-team field, which includes universities such as BYU, Eastern Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Santa Clara, Texas A&M, Toledo, and UTRGV. Last season, the Bearkats placed eighth in the inaugural event, which was shortened to 36 holes due to weather conditions. They finished ahead of Power Four opponents Iowa and Nebraska, as well as in-state rivals ACU and North Texas. Amelia Guo led the Bearkats with a tie for fourth place, while Francesca Sumcad tied for 16th, and Bomyeong Lee tied for 29th.
