APM Terminals Los Angeles has placed an order for 40 Orange EV HUSK-e XP battery-electric terminal tractors, marking a significant step towards full electrification of its on-dock rail drayage fleet at Pier 400. This order, part of a contract signed on June
16, 2026, will increase the terminal's electric fleet to 60 units. The initiative is partially funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Ports Program. The new tractors will build on the success of 20 units deployed since April 2025, which have logged 42,000 zero-emission hours and displaced over 40,700 diesel-equivalent gallons. The tractors are expected to be fully operational by January 2027.
