What's Happening?
Deloitte, a professional services firm, has initiated the application process for the 13th edition of its PACT Fund. This program is designed to finance and support social impact projects developed by non-profit organizations. Non-profit entities based
in Portugal and Angola are eligible to submit applications until November 2nd, focusing on areas of capacity-building and social innovation. The PACT Fund aims to foster skills development for the future and promote innovative solutions that create lasting impact. Over its previous 12 editions, the fund has supported 86 projects, addressing various social challenges and creating opportunities within communities. Beyond financial assistance, the PACT Fund also involves Deloitte professionals who mentor selected projects, sharing knowledge and experience to strengthen the institutional capacity and sustainability of these initiatives. Afonso Arnaldo, a member of Deloitte's board responsible for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, emphasized that the program combines financing, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring to generate lasting impact.
Why It's Important?
The Deloitte PACT Fund plays a crucial role in fostering social innovation and capacity building within non-profit sectors in Portugal and Angola. By providing both financial support and professional mentorship, the initiative helps address critical social challenges that might otherwise go unaddressed due to lack of resources or expertise. This program contributes to sustainable development by empowering local organizations to implement effective solutions and create long-term positive change in their communities. The involvement of Deloitte professionals ensures that these projects benefit from high-level strategic guidance and operational efficiency, enhancing their chances of success and scalability. This model of corporate social responsibility not only benefits the recipient organizations but also cultivates a culture of social engagement within Deloitte, aligning business objectives with broader societal welfare. The focus on skills development and innovative solutions is particularly important in regions facing economic and social disparities, as it helps build self-sufficiency and resilience.
What's Next?
Following the application period, which closes on November 2nd, proposals will undergo an assessment by a committee composed of Deloitte professionals from various business areas. This evaluation will be based on criteria such as impact, feasibility, and innovation. Subsequently, shortlisted institutions will be invited to present their projects directly to the evaluation committee, allowing for a more in-depth assessment of each proposal's relevance and its potential impact on beneficiaries and the involved communities. The final selection of projects for the 13th edition of the PACT Fund will be announced in December through Deloitte's official website and social media channels. Interested institutions are encouraged to consult the eligibility conditions outlined in the edition's regulations and access the application form provided by the organization to ensure compliance with all requirements.
Beyond the Headlines
The PACT Fund's approach of combining financial aid with professional mentorship highlights a growing trend in corporate social responsibility, moving beyond simple donations to more integrated and sustainable forms of support. This model not only provides immediate relief but also builds long-term capacity within non-profit organizations, enabling them to become more self-reliant and effective. The emphasis on 'skills for the future' and 'innovative solutions' suggests a forward-thinking strategy that aims to address root causes of social issues rather than just symptoms. This initiative could serve as a blueprint for other corporations looking to maximize their social impact, demonstrating that strategic engagement and knowledge transfer can be as valuable as financial contributions. The program's success in supporting 86 projects over 12 editions underscores the effectiveness of this comprehensive approach in driving meaningful and lasting change in communities.
