The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued warning letters to seven companies for potentially misrepresenting their products as 'Made in the USA' when they were actually imported, either in whole or in part. The companies involved sell a range
of products, including drums, industrial laser machinery, coordinate measuring machines, and e-cigarettes. This action is in line with President Trump's March 2026 executive order, which directed the FTC to prioritize enforcement of 'Made in USA' claims. Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, emphasized the importance of consumer trust in products marketed as American-made, stating that the FTC will hold accountable any company that undermines this trust with misleading claims.
