Ethereum's 'Glamsterdam' upgrade has encountered additional delays, with the activation date for its Sepolia testnet now tentatively set for October 6 at 13:53 UTC. This decision was made during the ACDC #186 developer call on September 3. The upgrade's
mainnet target has already been pushed back from the first half of 2026 to the fourth quarter. The Sepolia activation was initially scheduled for August 3, meaning it is now approximately two months behind its original timeline. These delays stem from four unresolved issues identified on private test networks, including a finalization problem on Devnet-9, a consensus bug on Devnet-8, and an execution-layer issue related to EIP-8037. Developers have emphasized that correctness takes precedence over meeting specific dates, indicating that the October 6 target remains conditional.
