AMD has announced the launch of its new EPYC 9006 'Venice' processors, designed to enhance its server offerings in the AI era. The announcement was made at the AMD Advancing AI 2026 event by Lisa Su. The EPYC 9006 series is set to improve upon the performance
of its predecessor, the EPYC 9005 'Turin', which has been noted for its industry-leading performance and reliability. The new processors will support Gen2 MRDIMM-12800 and DDR5-8000 memory, eliminating the previous advantage held by Intel's Granite Rapids in memory bandwidth. Additionally, the Venice series will feature up to 16 channel memory per socket and support PCIe Gen 6 with up to 160 lanes in a dual socket configuration. The processors are expected to be available in Q4, with the Venice-X 3D V-Cache processors debuting in 2027.
