Green City Partners, the development group behind the failed GreenCity project in Henrico County, Virginia, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. The filing, made on September 9, lists over $825,000 in known liabilities to 16 creditors, with
less than $50,000 in assets. This bankruptcy filing comes a year after the developers, led by Susan Eastridge and Michael Hallmark, relinquished the project site back to Henrico County and settled a debt dispute with ASM Global, the venue management company that was slated to operate the project's arena. Creditors include Henrico County, ASM Global (now Legends Global), the Henrico Economic Development Authority, and several law firms and consulting companies. The GreenCity project, announced in late 2020, was a proposed $2.3 billion mixed-use development intended to include a new arena and commercial and residential spaces on a 200-acre site.
