cardio, which requires approximately 52 minutes to reach a similar level of benefit. The study, a meta-analysis of 69 randomized controlled trials involving 2,387 participants, compared HIIT with moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT). Researchers aimed to understand the dose-response relationship between exercise duration and fitness gains for both types of workouts. They discovered that the most substantial fitness improvements from HIIT occur within the first 10 to 15 minutes, with diminishing returns beyond 23 minutes. In contrast, moderate-intensity training continues to show benefits with longer durations, suggesting that while both are effective, HIIT offers a more time-condensed path to cardiorespiratory health.
