Springfield officials, in collaboration with private-sector partners, are set to celebrate the completion of a series of road projects on September 15. These infrastructure improvements are designed to open access to approximately 411 acres of land within
the city limits, earmarked for future commercial and industrial development. The projects include the widening of LeCompte Road, the extension of Eastgate Avenue, and the realignment of Old Wire Road (also known as Farm Road 116). A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. near the intersection of LeCompte Road and Eastgate Avenue, by the southeast entrance to Springfield Underground. This initiative is a partnership involving the Erlen Group, the City of Springfield, City Utilities of Springfield, Greene County, and the State of Missouri, aiming to enhance access to one of the largest remaining concentrations of commercial and industrial land available for development in Springfield.
