What's Happening?
Krakatoa Resources has reported the discovery of visual antimony mineralization at its Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia. Initial drilling has revealed significant intervals of antimony, with one drill hole showing a 2.86m interval containing
up to 50% stibnite. The project, located in the Racha region, covers 1,779 hectares and holds a foreign resource estimate of 225,000 tonnes of antimony. Krakatoa plans to conduct further drilling and sampling to support a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of antimony at Zopkhito is significant for Krakatoa Resources as it could enhance the company's portfolio in critical minerals. Antimony is a valuable resource used in various industrial applications, including flame retardants and batteries. The successful development of this project could position Krakatoa as a key player in the antimony market, potentially attracting investment and partnerships. This development also highlights the strategic importance of securing critical mineral resources amid growing global demand.
What's Next?
Krakatoa plans to continue its drilling program to validate historical data and expand its resource estimates. The company aims to convert the foreign resource estimate into a JORC-compliant estimate, which could enhance its credibility and attract further investment. Additionally, Krakatoa intends to conduct metallurgical test work and preliminary mining studies to advance the project towards production. Regular updates and assay results are expected throughout 2026 as the project progresses.
