What's Happening?
Brookdale Community College is launching a faculty-led study abroad program for Summer 2027 titled 'Psychology in Action: Happiness, Sexuality, and Equality' in Reykjavik, Iceland. Scheduled from June
7-14, 2027, the six-night program will allow students to explore concepts of positive psychology, human relationships, social equality, and resilience within Iceland's culture. Led by Dr. Brian Oland and Professor Marlena Frank, participants can earn academic credit or audit psychology courses. Beyond classroom learning, the itinerary includes visits to natural and cultural attractions such as the Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle, Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss Waterfall, and a sustainable tomato farm. Students will also engage with representatives from Iceland's Ministry of Justice and Gender Equality to learn about the country's approach to equality.

The early bird deadline for applications is October 31, 2026, with a program cost of $4,140, increasing to $4,290 thereafter. A $500 deposit is required. The final application deadline is February 13, 2027. Students interested in participating will need to apply and secure their spot by these deadlines. The college will continue to promote the program to ensure sufficient enrollment for the Summer 2027 trip, preparing for the logistical arrangements for the international travel and academic components.
