Base Power, an Austin-based energy company, has raised $1 billion in Series D financing to expand its home battery system, Base Core. The funding values the company at $13 billion and supports the production of the Core system at its Austin factory. The Core system, available
in 39.2 kWh and 78.4 kWh versions, is designed to store electricity at homes and feed power back to the grid when needed. It can be installed in under an hour and withstand extreme weather conditions. The company aims to transform home batteries into a distributed power resource, reducing reliance on large power plants.
