What's Happening?
CS PowerTech Inc., a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has inaugurated the first phase of its flagship photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturing facility at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This facility is the first in the U.S.
designed to produce heterojunction (HJT) bifacial N-type solar cells, marking a significant step in reshoring advanced manufacturing to the United States. The Jeffersonville plant, along with CS PowerTech's module manufacturing plant in Mesquite, Texas, aims to create a localized, vertically integrated supply chain to enhance U.S. energy infrastructure. At full capacity, the facility is expected to produce over 6 GWp annually and support more than 1,200 jobs, representing nearly $1 billion in local investment.
