What's Happening?
Wattstor has partnered with LSN Diffusion, a major Welsh exporter, to implement a significant on-site solar and battery storage project at LSN's South Wales facility. This long-term electricity supply agreement includes the installation of 1.3MW of solar generation
and a 5MWh battery system, which will generate around 25% of the site's electricity needs. The project aims to provide LSN Diffusion with long-term energy cost certainty and support its growth in European markets by meeting sustainability requirements.
Why It's Important?
This partnership highlights the growing importance of renewable energy solutions for industrial businesses facing volatile energy costs and sustainability pressures. By investing in on-site generation and storage, LSN Diffusion can reduce its reliance on the grid, avoid significant infrastructure costs, and strengthen its position in competitive export markets. The project also demonstrates how renewable energy investments can support business growth and resilience, particularly for energy-intensive companies looking to expand without incurring high grid connection costs.
What's Next?
As energy price volatility continues, more manufacturers may seek similar partnerships to secure their energy futures and meet sustainability expectations. The success of this project could encourage other industrial businesses to adopt renewable energy solutions, potentially leading to increased investment in on-site generation and storage technologies. Additionally, the partnership may inspire further collaborations between energy companies and manufacturers to address the dual challenges of energy costs and sustainability.
