STAX Engineering, a leader in maritime emissions capture and control, has announced a $150 million financing commitment from Bain Capital’s Private Capital Group. This funding is intended to support contracted builds through 2027 and accelerate the deployment
of STAX's technology, ensuring tanker operators have access to necessary service capacity. The financing comes in response to the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) At-Berth Regulation, which mandates compliance by January 1, 2027. STAX has been operating in Southern California since 2025 and is now expanding its presence in Northern California through agreements with IMTT and TransMontaigne. These agreements are expected to support over 6,400 at-berth service hours through 2031, reflecting a growing demand for emissions-control solutions that do not disrupt operations.
