What's Happening?
Anthropic has begun rolling out a redesigned version of its Claude Projects feature to a select group of Pro and Max subscribers who utilize Claude Code cloud sessions. This new iteration of Claude Projects is built around a coordinator model, transforming
isolated chats into a single, long-running conversation that delegates tasks to separate threads. Each thread operates as a full Claude Code cloud session with its own branch, capable of splitting into sub-agents and continuing work even after the user closes their laptop. The coordinator manages the overall workflow, while threads execute specific tasks, all sharing a common pool of project memory, files, and instructions. A key enhancement is the integration of a retrieval layer, which functions as a project knowledge search tool, pulling only relevant files into a thread to avoid context limits, rather than loading the entire project context every time. Access to this redesigned feature is currently limited, with existing web and desktop project users, as well as those on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry deployments, excluded from this initial phase.
