What's Happening?
The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has awarded the 2026 Bob Johnson Memorial Scholarship to Sydney Wilson, a graduate of Beaver Area High School. The scholarship, valued at $5,000, is co-sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins Booster Club and is given annually
to a high school senior in western Pennsylvania who demonstrates academic excellence, community service, and leadership in their school's hockey program. Wilson, who played both defense and wing for the Beaver Bobcats, was one of the few female athletes competing at the varsity level. She excelled academically with a 4.26 GPA and was involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including serving as President of the National Honor Society. Wilson plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh David C. Frederick Honors College, majoring in Politics, Philosophy, and Law.
