Marathon Cheese, a Wisconsin-based custom cheese packaging and transportation company, is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Booneville, Mississippi. This expansion involves a $326,000 investment to add new manufacturing equipment, including
a production line designed to increase the plant’s slicing and packaging capacity. The installation of this new equipment was completed at the end of July. This development is expected to create 39 new jobs at the Booneville facility, increasing its workforce by approximately 20%. Governor Tate Reeves praised the expansion, highlighting Marathon Cheese's long-standing presence in Prentiss County since 1962 and its contribution to the local economy. The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting this project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, with additional assistance from Prentiss County, the city of Booneville, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Marathon Cheese President Gary S. Bachand noted that Booneville offers the necessary infrastructure and workforce for this strategic investment.
