SES Space & Defense, a subsidiary of SES, has entered into an agreement with Starlab to provide continuous, low-latency connectivity services for Starlab's commercial space station. This collaboration will utilize SES's O3b mPOWER, a next-generation medium
Earth orbit (MEO) constellation, to relay data from low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to ground networks in near real-time. This system aims to eliminate data delays typically experienced by LEO satellites, ensuring uninterrupted access to data and mission operations for Starlab operators and researchers. The agreement is part of NASA's Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development (CLD) Program, with Starlab being developed as a next-generation, AI-enabled commercial space station. The partnership is expected to set a new standard for always-on communications in commercial LEO infrastructure.
