Evonik has successfully completed the backward integration of its Metamino (DL-methionine) production hub located in Mobile, Alabama. This strategic move involves the on-site production of the key intermediate, methyl mercaptan, across its global hubs
in Mobile, Antwerp, and Singapore. The integration aims to bolster the efficiency, supply security, and sustainability of Evonik's global methionine production network. Gaetano Blanda, head of the Animal Nutrition business line at Evonik, highlighted the significance of this project, noting that it reduces the company's exposure to market volatility and enhances its operational capabilities.
