What's Happening?
Venari Minerals has secured approval from the Bureau of Land Management for six additional drill sites at its Red Mountain Lithium Project in Nevada, USA. The company plans to conduct infill drilling in the high-grade northern zone to upgrade the mineral
resource estimate (MRE) from inferred to indicated category under the JORC 2012 guidelines. This zone contains 47.9 million tonnes at 2,193 parts per million (ppm) lithium, equating to 560,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent at a 1,300ppm lithium cut-off. The successful permitting positions Venari to advance the project towards an upgraded MRE, which will support a Scoping Study expected to be completed by Q1 2027. Venari is in discussions with diamond drilling contractors to commence drilling promptly.
Why It's Important?
The approval for additional drilling at the Red Mountain Lithium Project is significant as it allows Venari Minerals to enhance the project's resource estimates, potentially increasing its economic viability. The project's proximity to infrastructure, such as transcontinental Route 6 and a high-voltage transmission line, further enhances its attractiveness. The development of this lithium project is crucial as lithium is a key component in battery technology, which is essential for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. This project could contribute to the U.S. efforts to secure domestic sources of critical minerals, reducing reliance on foreign imports and supporting the transition to a green economy.
What's Next?
Venari Minerals plans to focus on the northern zone for the initial phase of drilling, which will form the basis of the upcoming Scoping Study. The company's broader Exploration Plan of Operations (EPO) is under review and expected to be approved soon, allowing for increased drilling activities. This expansion will enable further exploration in the central part of the project and testing of high-potential target areas. Venari's participation in the Noosa Mining Conference in July 2026 will provide an opportunity to showcase the project's progress and attract potential investors.
