Revvity has announced an agreement to acquire Human Cell Design (HCD), a French biotechnology company specializing in human cell models and preclinical research solutions. HCD focuses on diabetes, obesity, and other metabolic diseases, and its acquisition
is expected to enhance Revvity's Life Sciences portfolio. The deal will integrate HCD's human pancreatic beta cell models, particularly its flagship EndoC-βH5 model, into Revvity's offerings. These models are crucial for drug discovery, screening, and preclinical research, including therapies for GLP-1 and other metabolic conditions. The acquisition also includes HCD's specialized media, reagents, preclinical research services, and its NatLine cell-line development platform, which aims to create functionally consistent human cell models. The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Revvity plans to leverage HCD's EndoC-βH5 cells with its existing HTRF™ and AlphaLISA™ assays for measuring pharmacological readouts like cAMP and insulin, as well as pHSense™ technology for receptor internalization studies. The combined capabilities will also extend to Revvity's ATPlite™ assays for cell viability and proliferation analysis, and its high-content screening platform. Furthermore, these human-relevant cell models are expected to provide a crucial foundation for testing and confirming insights generated by AI-enhanced science, supporting the growing need for wet-lab validation in drug development.
