What's Happening?
Great Southern Copper has commenced scout reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Artemisa South copper-gold target in Chile, part of its Especularita Project. This follows the completion of drilling at the nearby Victoria prospect, which indicated potential
for a large-scale porphyry copper system. The drilling at Artemisa South targets areas with historic mine workings showing copper-gold mineralization. The company plans to drill three RC holes to explore mineralization beneath former artisanal mines, aiming to assess the continuation of structural trends.
Why It's Important?
The initiation of drilling at Artemisa South is a significant step for Great Southern Copper in exploring potential copper-gold deposits in Chile. The findings could have substantial implications for the company's exploration strategy and the broader mining industry in the region. Discovering a large-scale porphyry copper system could attract further investment and development, contributing to the local economy and the global copper supply. The project's success could also enhance Chile's position as a leading copper producer.
What's Next?
Geochemical assay results from the current drilling phase are expected within two to four weeks. These results will provide critical data for assessing the mineralization potential at Artemisa South. Great Southern Copper plans to continue geophysical surveys and additional drilling at the Especularita Project, including other prospects like Cerro Negro and Viuda. The company's exploration efforts will focus on identifying high-grade mineralized structures and assessing the broader porphyry potential.
