What's Happening?
As summer draws to a close, readers are encouraged to explore new book releases that fulfill the 2026 Read Harder Challenge tasks. This summer's offerings include a variety of genres such as queer romantasy, nonfiction about resistance, modern gothic,
and Japanese murder mysteries. The challenge tasks include reading novels with main characters using they/them pronouns and romantasy books featuring queer and/or BIPOC main characters. These books provide readers with opportunities to engage with diverse narratives and perspectives, enriching their reading experience.
Why It's Important?
The Read Harder Challenge promotes diversity and inclusivity in literature by encouraging readers to explore books that feature underrepresented voices and themes. This initiative supports authors from marginalized communities, helping to increase their visibility and influence in the literary world. By participating in the challenge, readers can broaden their understanding of different cultures and identities, fostering empathy and awareness. The challenge also contributes to the growth of the publishing industry by driving demand for diverse books, potentially influencing future publishing trends.
