What's Happening?
SKYX Platforms Corp. and its subsidiary Deako are set to supply approximately 60,000 units of advanced smart home technologies to Home Creations, a home builder operating in Oklahoma and Texas. This collaboration will equip over 700 new homes with smart lighting,
smart thermostats, smart locks, and app-enabled garage doors over the next 12 months. Home Creations, established in 1981, emphasizes energy-efficient construction and integrated smart home features in its communities. The partnership aims to enhance connected living and improve safety and efficiency in residential properties. According to Derek Richardson, Founder and CEO of Deako, the integration provides a smart lighting foundation that is easy for builders to install and for homeowners to customize. Rani Kohen, Founder and Executive Chairman of SKYX Platforms, stated that this initiative is part of their strategy to expand builder programs and grow market penetration for safer, more advanced, and smarter homes.
Why It's Important?
This partnership signifies a growing trend in the U.S. housing market towards integrating smart home technology as a standard feature rather than an optional upgrade. For homebuyers in Oklahoma and Texas, this means new residences will come equipped with advanced systems designed to improve energy efficiency and convenience, potentially lowering utility costs and enhancing daily living. For the construction industry, it highlights the increasing demand for seamless smart home solutions that are easy to install and integrate into new builds. Companies like SKYX Platforms and Deako stand to gain significant market share by partnering directly with home builders, ensuring their technologies are embedded from the ground up. This move also pushes the broader adoption of smart home ecosystems, potentially influencing consumer expectations for future home purchases and driving innovation in the sector.
What's Next?
SKYX Platforms and Deako plan to continue expanding their builder programs, aiming to increase market penetration for their smart home technologies across the U.S. The success of this partnership with Home Creations could serve as a model for future collaborations with other prominent home builders. The companies anticipate supplying a combined pipeline of over 4 million units, with an estimated average selling price of approximately $50 per product. This expansion is expected to further integrate smart home features into new residential and potentially hotel markets, creating an A-to-Z smart home offering. Homeowners in these new communities can expect to benefit from enhanced energy efficiency and customizable smart features, while the companies will focus on growing their presence in the rapidly evolving smart home sector.
Beyond the Headlines
The widespread adoption of smart home technology, as exemplified by this partnership, raises important considerations regarding data privacy and cybersecurity. As more devices in a home become interconnected and capable of collecting data on usage patterns, energy consumption, and even personal routines, the security of this information becomes paramount. Homeowners will increasingly need to be aware of how their data is collected, stored, and used by smart home systems and manufacturers. Furthermore, the interoperability of different smart home devices, often facilitated by standards like Matter, is crucial for a seamless user experience, but it also presents challenges in ensuring consistent security protocols across various platforms. This trend could lead to increased regulatory scrutiny and the development of industry standards for data protection in smart homes, impacting both manufacturers and consumers.
