maintenance workers, and engineers in data centers have more than doubled over the past two years. This growth is occurring even as overall U.S. job openings have declined. Currently, six out of every 1,000 job postings in the U.S. are related to data centers, a figure that has tripled since 2023. The hiring trend is not confined to traditional tech hubs like Silicon Valley; it is spreading to cities such as Columbus, Ohio, Jackson, Mississippi, and Reno, Nevada, where the share of local job postings for data centers has surged. Notably, about 25% of these openings are for installation and maintenance workers, who can earn approximately $10 more per hour compared to similar roles outside the industry.
