What's Happening?
Australian Gold and Copper (ASX:AGC) has announced significant progress in its exploration efforts at the Cargelligo Gold Project in New South Wales. The company has confirmed that the Achilles mineral system extends more than 200 meters below the current
resource, with mineralization now confirmed beyond 400 meters down dip. This development is based on results from four completed drill holes targeting extensions to the northern 'high-grade' zone beneath the current resource estimate. Notable intercepts include 14 meters at 85 grams per tonne silver equivalent from 388 meters, and 9.7 meters at 56 grams per tonne silver equivalent from 434 meters. The company is awaiting further assay results from additional drill holes, which are expected to provide more information on the scale potential of the system.
Why It's Important?
The extension of the Achilles mineral system is a significant milestone for Australian Gold and Copper, as it demonstrates the potential for increased mineral endowment at the Cargelligo Gold Project. This could enhance the company's resource base and potentially increase its market valuation. The confirmation of deeper mineralization suggests that the project could yield more resources than initially estimated, which is crucial for the company's growth strategy. The ongoing exploration efforts and pending assay results could further solidify the project's viability, attracting more investment and interest from stakeholders in the mining industry.
What's Next?
Australian Gold and Copper plans to continue its drilling activities at the Evergreen site, with further assays expected in the coming weeks. The company aims to have materially increased its mineral endowment at South Cobar by the end of the year. Additionally, a shallow reverse circulation drilling campaign is planned for the Achilles discovery, targeting extensions to oxide gold-silver mineralization. The company is also advancing field activities at the Junee Gold Project, integrating historical data to refine drill targeting across several priority prospects. These efforts are part of the company's broader strategy to expand its resource base and enhance its exploration portfolio.
