eating models, finding that while all three diets led to approximately 10% weight loss when participants adhered to carefully portioned meals and received weekly guidance, the ketogenic diet showed additional positive alterations. Specifically, it resulted in reduced fat in the liver, decreased liver production of triglycerides, and improved insulin sensitivity in the organ. Furthermore, about half of the participants on the ketogenic diet no longer met the criteria for prediabetes. This research indicates that the macronutrient composition of the ketogenic diet might play a unique role in improving specific health markers, even when weight loss is comparable across different dietary approaches. The study, however, was small and short-term, meaning the long-term health effects of the ketogenic diet are still unknown.
