and the U.S. Energy Information Administration between 2015 and 2024, found that for every doubling of data center capacity, average retail electricity prices decreased by 3.5%. This trend is attributed to economies of scale, where increased data center usage leads to more efficient energy consumption and lower prices. PJM, the largest power grid operator in the U.S., has projected a $6.3 billion increase in consumer electricity costs over the next three years, largely due to increased data center power demands. The construction of data centers is expected to reach $7 trillion by 2030, potentially reversing the trend of decreasing electricity costs.
