Stoke Space Technologies, a company focused on fully reusable rockets, has successfully closed a $1 billion Series E financing round. This significant investment brings their total capital raised to $2.3 billion and values the company at $9 billion. The
funding round was co-led by Point72 Ventures, the technology investment arm of hedge-fund manager Steven Cohen, and Spark Capital. Other returning investors also participated. Stoke Space also unveiled plans for a larger follow-on rocket, Nova Block 2, designed to carry 15 metric tons to low Earth orbit (LEO), aiming to fill a market gap expected to be left by SpaceX's Falcon 9 around 2028. The company's Nova Pathfinder, the first vehicle in the Nova family, is targeting its inaugural orbital launch in early 2027. Stoke Space's innovative approach to full reusability involves an actively cooled stainless steel heat shield for its upper stage, using liquid hydrogen as both a coolant and engine fuel, a method distinct from SpaceX's tile-based system.
