Rolls-Royce has finalized a decade-long, $1 billion investment in its Indianapolis manufacturing, assembly, and testing operations. This significant investment has modernized advanced manufacturing capabilities
across the Indianapolis campus and established comprehensive engine-testing facilities, including new ground-test facilities in Indianapolis and an altitude test facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. The company states that more of its defense products are now built in Indianapolis than anywhere else globally. This expansion aims to give Rolls-Royce greater control over the development and production of advanced propulsion systems for U.S. defense customers. The upgraded campus supports engines for various U.S. defense programs, such as future propulsion systems for the U.S. Air Force’s B-52 strategic bomber and the U.S. Army’s MV-75 Cheyenne, as well as engines for existing platforms like the V-22 Osprey, the U.S. Navy’s MQ-25A Stingray, and the C-130J.
