What's Happening?
Hydrosat, a thermal infrared Earth observation company, has unveiled its next-generation satellite constellation named Osiris. This new constellation is designed to collect higher-resolution imagery over a wider area compared to its current VanZyl-1 and
-2 satellites. The first two upgraded Osiris satellites are expected to launch in 2027. Each Osiris satellite will carry a payload with five integrated sensors: one long-wave infrared imager capable of 25-meter resolution over a 160-340km swath, and four visible near-infrared sensors collectively capable of imaging as low as 10-meter resolution. Hydrosat plans to operate Osiris in an always-on configuration, capturing stripmaps of the planet and delivering images to its Discovery Platform for customer analysis. The company has already secured service contracts with major government organizations, including NASA and the NRO, and is also offering its next-gen infrared payloads to other customers.
