BMW and Clemson University have collaborated to create a solar-powered electric vehicle prototype, named Deep Orange 17, which generates more energy than it consumes. The vehicle incorporates over 1,700 photovoltaic cells into its body panels, allowing
it to produce surplus energy under modeled conditions. Weighing only 1,212 pounds, the prototype demonstrates innovative use of materials and energy management systems.
