What's Happening?
Istituto Marangoni Paris has announced a significant partnership with the Dutch fashion house Viktor&Rolf for the 2026-2027 academic year. This collaboration is designed as an Industry Project, providing emerging designers with an immersive experience
into the strategic and conceptual workings of a major luxury brand. The mentorship program will involve students in creating a forward-looking vision for Viktor&Rolf's spring/summer 2028 women's ready-to-wear collection. Students will engage in a comprehensive project that includes designing key looks, creating print and digital lookbooks, and developing an innovative presentation format for Paris Fashion Week. The program will commence with a masterclass led by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, followed by online sessions with the creative studio, culminating in a final presentation to the brand's executives.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is crucial as it bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practice, offering students a unique opportunity to engage directly with a leading luxury brand. It reflects a broader trend in fashion education where institutions are increasingly collaborating with industry leaders to provide students with practical experience and exposure to the commercial realities of the fashion world. The project not only enhances the students' creative skills but also prepares them for the business aspects of fashion, such as industrialization and market constraints. This initiative could set a precedent for other fashion schools to follow, emphasizing the importance of integrating industry experience into academic programs.
What's Next?
The project will officially begin in November on the Paris campus, with the masterclass and subsequent online sessions providing ongoing guidance. The final presentation in Paris will offer students the chance to showcase their work to Viktor&Rolf's executives, potentially leading to career opportunities. The winning student will secure an internship at the Viktor&Rolf headquarters in Amsterdam, while others may participate in the spring/summer 2027 showroom in Paris. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the ties between Istituto Marangoni Paris and the fashion industry, potentially leading to more such partnerships in the future.
