The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum in Greenville, Texas, will host a special presentation by Lewis Smith on August 4, 2026. Smith, a seasoned history teacher and author, will discuss 'Writing Historical Fiction in the 21st Century - An Author's Journey.'
With a background in history from East Texas A&M University, Smith has taught for 35 years and currently teaches Dual Credit American History at Sulphur Springs High School. He is also an avid collector of fossils and Indian artifacts. Smith published his first novel, 'The Testimonium,' in 2014, and his talk will explore the challenges and rewards of writing historical fiction today.
