What's Happening?
Anthropic has announced the launch of Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), a new solution designed to enable secure and responsible deployment of advanced AI models, such as Claude Fable 5.1, within enterprise environments, particularly those in regulated
industries. EFS combines zero data retention (ZDR) with state-of-the-art misuse detection capabilities. A core feature of EFS is that it allows customers to store their data in their own cloud infrastructure, rather than with Anthropic, addressing privacy and compliance concerns. This architecture ensures that sensitive information remains under the customer's control, with their own encryption keys, access policies, and audit logging. Anthropic developed EFS in collaboration with over 100 customers across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing, as well as with major cloud partners like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. The solution aims to mitigate risks associated with AI misuse and autonomous misbehavior, which can range from fraud to sophisticated cyberattacks.

What's Next?
Enterprise Frontier Safeguards will be rolled out to customers in phases, with a goal for broad availability later in the fall. Eligible customers will receive ZDR on Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 during the transition period until EFS is fully ready. Anthropic will continue to support EFS on various platforms, including Claude Code, Claude Enterprise, the Claude Platform, Amazon Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS, Google’s Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry. Customers will have the option to enable features like customer-owned storage, customer-managed encryption keys, and fully automated review based on their organizational needs. Anthropic will not charge for EFS, though customers will be responsible for storage and related fees from their cloud providers if they choose to store data in their own cloud accounts. This phased rollout and flexible implementation aim to ensure a smooth integration for enterprises seeking to enhance their AI capabilities securely.
