What's Happening?
The 84th Nisei Week Japanese Festival, one of the longest-running cultural festivals in the United States, is set to take place in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district from August 15-23, 2026. Among the highlights is the performance by Team Kawachi Ondo,
a group dedicated to preserving and sharing the spirit of Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese dance. The festival will feature a variety of cultural events, including a Shotokan Karate Exhibition, a Taiko Gathering, and Ondo street dancing. Team Kawachi Ondo, led by Ms. Fumio Maruyama, will perform at the JACCC Plaza Festival, bringing traditional Japanese folk music and dance to the event.
