Ben Sevier has been named CEO of Hachette Book Group (HBG), effective January 1, 2027, succeeding David Shelley. Shelley will transition to the role of executive chair of Hachette UK and HBG, and will also serve as a global advisor to Hachette Livre’s
CEO and deputy CEO. In his new capacity, Shelley will focus on new markets, global synergies, and mergers and acquisitions. Sevier, who joined HBG in 2017 and was appointed president and publisher of Grand Central Publishing in 2024, will now lead HBG. Additionally, Richard Kitson, deputy CEO of Hachette UK and HBG, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer for global English language at Hachette, with both Sevier and Kitson reporting to Shelley.
