A recent study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease highlights the potential benefits of the MIND diet for individuals with high Alzheimer's biomarkers. The MIND diet, which combines elements of the Mediterranean and DASH diets, focuses on
plant-based foods such as berries, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and fish, while limiting saturated fats and added sugars. The study found that participants with elevated levels of Alzheimer's-related biomarkers, specifically beta-amyloid and phosphorylated tau, who adhered to the MIND diet, maintained better cognitive scores compared to a control group. This suggests that the diet's protective effects are particularly strong for those at higher risk of Alzheimer's. The research involved 604 adults aged 65 to 84, who were monitored over three years, with half following the MIND diet and the other half a control diet.
