Valar Atomics has successfully closed a $1 billion Series B financing round led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from several other investors. This funding will support Valar's ambitious plans to transition from experimental reactors to mass-manufactured
energy solutions. The company aims to produce hundreds of microreactors annually, focusing on grid-independent campuses for AI data centers. Valar's Ward 250 microreactor, which recently achieved initial criticality, is a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor designed to scale up to 5 MWe. The company is also working on a TRISO fuel fabrication facility in Utah. Valar's rapid development has been facilitated by bypassing traditional Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) processes, although the company is currently involved in litigation challenging NRC's licensing authority.
