V Engineering, a company specializing in automotive preparation for supercars, has introduced a new battery for the McLaren P1, significantly enhancing its electric range. The original P1, launched in 2013, combined a 737 hp twin-turbo V8 with a 179 hp electric motor,
allowing for approximately ten kilometers of all-electric driving with its 4.72 kWh battery. V Engineering's new battery, developed in collaboration with original P1 engineers and inspired by Formula E technology, triples the capacity to 12.4 kWh. Despite the increased capacity, the new battery is 23 kg lighter than the original and features an improved glycol-based cooling system for more stable performance. The company plans to begin installations in spring 2027, with the upgrade priced at 160,000 British pounds, equivalent to approximately 187,000 euros.
