What's Happening?
A&A Pet Supply, a long-standing pet store in Frisco, has moved to a new, larger location at 753 Tenmile Drive. Owner Sarah Terrill initiated the relocation after learning that the Giberson family planned to sell the land where the previous store, located
at 121 N. Summit Blvd., had operated for two decades. The move, which occurred in early October, involved a tight turnaround for construction and renovations in September. The new storefront offers nearly double the square footage of the old location, allowing for expanded departments and dedicated spaces for various customer needs. Improvements include an accessible entrance, a more convenient garage door for deliveries, and an upgraded self-service dog washing and grooming area. Megan Henry has also joined as the new manager, bringing her husky, Jasper, to work alongside the store's famous dachshund, Frankie.
Why It's Important?
This relocation signifies a significant 'rebirth' for a beloved local business, allowing A&A Pet Supply to modernize and expand its offerings while maintaining its community-focused atmosphere. The increased space enables the store to stock a wider variety of specialty items, including an upgraded cat section, a wellness area, and dedicated spaces for trying on pet apparel like winter wear, which is highly sought after in Summit County. The move also addresses logistical challenges of the previous location, such as an awkward parking lot and inaccessible entrance, improving convenience for both customers and staff. By investing in a larger, more functional space, A&A Pet Supply aims to enhance its customer experience and respond more effectively to evolving pet care needs, solidifying its position as a key local retailer.
What's Next?
With the new location, A&A Pet Supply plans to further expand its inventory, focusing on unique and in-demand products that customers often request or find online. The larger space will allow for more specialized items and a broader selection across all departments. Owner Sarah Terrill intends to continue fostering the cozy and welcoming atmosphere that has defined the business for two decades, despite the physical changes. The store will also benefit from operational efficiencies, such as an on-site washer and dryer, which will save over $600 monthly. The new manager, Megan Henry, is expected to contribute to the store's continued success, bringing her experience and her husky, Jasper, to the team, further integrating the store into the local pet-loving community.
Beyond the Headlines
The relocation of A&A Pet Supply highlights a broader trend in local retail where established businesses adapt to changing urban landscapes and property developments. The decision to move, prompted by the sale of the previous land, demonstrates the resilience and adaptability required for small businesses to thrive. This 'rebirth' allows the store to not only overcome a challenge but also to innovate and improve its services, potentially setting a new standard for pet supply stores in the region. The emphasis on maintaining a 'cozy feeling' while expanding reflects a strategic balance between growth and preserving community connection, which is crucial for customer loyalty in local markets. The story also subtly underscores the importance of pet care and specialized pet products in communities like Summit County, where outdoor activities necessitate specific gear like waterproof booties.
